8.1.11 - It’s that time of year again. The slow death of a great summer is upon us, and we all mourn what was a wonderful season filled with fun times, great memories and of course indelible regrets. And yes, I know, it’s not over jusssst yet, we still have 20 more days of this glorious weather before we get into the fall doldrums, but I am seeing too many reminders that it’s almost over. Honestly, the one thing in recent days that got me soooo riled up was when I was shopping in Kmart (don’t ask) and as I was picking up some sunscreen I noticed a big display. A big HALLOWEEN display. Please note, that it was August 25th. Well Kmart, lemme tell you, this is just unacceptable. You changed the background contact papers from the shelves from Summer Green to Ghoulish Orange with a week left in August? How this is fair? Dear god, tell me whyyyy! It’s like they skipped over the whole Back-to-School hoopla, which for me at the ripe age of 31 is not applicable, but at least makes an easier mental transition into Fall.

Look, I had an amazing summer of 2011, but I am just not ready to call it over just yet. I travelled near and far; with my friends to Fire Island several times, SF, Atlanta and beautiful Oahu, Hawaii (thanks for covering the bill, work!). This weekend takes me to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware (yes, Delawhere?), where I get to reunite with some of my friends from the DC area, compare summer stories, drink, dance and enjoy the twilight of our youth. Again, I’m 31, let me just live in the moment, ok?

In the meantime, I have decided to create a fabulous (IMHO) playlist for this Labor Day Weekend…since none of us will or shall be laboring but enjoying the fine weather that the East Coast has coming. Here is some great NEW music from the likes of Kelly Clarkson (still, the only American Idol in my opinion), Cascada, Duck Sauce, Florrie (personal favorite, it’s my summer jam), Will Young and more. Plus, another awesome Monsieur Adi mix of a Madonna song, and finally, the last 5 songs are just amazing French Summer Disco beats. Turn up the stereo, thrown down the towel on the chaise and pour yourself another margarita, this summer ain’t over yet!
