11.4.10 - Summer turns to fall, fall turns to winter. The seasons change, we grow older, blah, blah, blah. 2010 is rapidly coming to an end, and of course we all say to ourselves this time of year "wow, time flies, where did the year go!" It was just Halloween, now Thanksgiving and the holidays are looming just around the corner. Me personally, I can't wait. I love the holidays in New York City, and even as a Jew, the Christmas lights and sounds are always beautiful. There is something magical about the winter season in the city, the window displays, the hot apple cider at the Union Square Greenmarket and of course my hands down most favorite thing, the snowflakes at Saks. Sure, I'm sitting here in lovely San Francisco right now, where they are going through a fantastic Indian Summer with 75 degree days and sunshine galore, but I can't wait for the winter to come!
My life has been in turmoil as of late dear reader(s). Not bad turmoil, just crazypants turmoil! I have been traveling so much as of late that I feel like I haven't had more than a brief moment to catch my breath! Boston, Atlanta, San Francisco and soon off to Houston, I'm looking forward to next week when my life settles down a smidge. What has been getting me through all these travels? Well music of course! Music gets me through all situations in life! The good, the bad and the gym. That being said, I present to you my adw's superfantastic mixtape v25! Yes, 25!
So, what do I have to celebrate this momentous occasion? Well a shit-ton of music of course! The 25th Mix warrants 25 songs! New songs by Ke$ha, Emily Osment, the return of Ricky Martin and of Nelly Furtado (yessss!)...a new song by everyone's favorite lilliputian American Idol tenor/soprano David Archuleta, another discofunk killer song by Jamiroquai and a new song by Right Said Fred.
What else....oh wait. Stop the virtual presses, did I just...um did I really just say RIGHT SAID F'IN FRED? That's right! They are back with a new kinda good song called "This Love". That's right, have a listen and do a little turn on the catwalk...Follow that up with new songs by Shakira, Natasha Bedingfield, Sugarland (and if you don't know Jennifer Nettles voice by now, you are missing out, she is one of a kind), plus Robyn and you just can't go wrong with some Robyn. Mid-mix you will find the addition of the song "Take Me Out", by Atomic Tom. You may have heard about them via an amazing video on YouTube and their performance on an NYC subway last month. Totally an fantastic song, i'm kinda obsessed, so have a listen. End it all with some "unreleased" Madonna tracks, Rihanna's take on her duet with Eminem "Love the Way You Lie (Part 2)", and then the fab cover of "Science Fiction Double Feature" from the Rocky Horror Picture Show as sung by Naya Rivera (aka Santana) on Glee. Download link is below, enjoy!
