it's amazing to me that someone who is virtually unemployed like myself can be just so damn busy! how does that happen? Well, lets see, I'm planning my best friend's 30th Birthday Party (which is going to be
insaaaane!), I just went down to DC with my best gal to do the press junket for "
Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian" which was very cool. I got to see Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Amy Adams, Ben Stiller, Hank Azaria, Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant (the writers whom most people know as Dangle and Junior from "
Reno 911"). The junket itself took place within the
National Air & Space Museum, after the museum itself closed, which was cool, plus I got to work with Jackie and Leah, my two fave MD girls, which was superfun! Walking around the museum late into the night was fairly surreal, since I had gone so many times as a kid, and now I was walking around and it was empty. It was silent and serene and pretty damn cool. I was with the director,
Shawn Levy all day/night, and he spoke very passionately about the movie which was pretty awesome...I'll have to check it out now!
Last week I was also about to work an event at
Blue Hill at Stone Barns with my old boss Cory, which was great fun. Me being a foodie, I have been wanting to go to BHaSB for ages, especially after hearing about just how amazing the food was and the methods of agriculture and how they cultivate almost all of the food on the premises. Stone Barns is actually the former Rockefeller farm, and it's spread out over several acres in Pocantico Hills, about 40 min north of NYC. The place is gorgeous, but more importantly they discuss how producing their own food on the farm (both veggies and meats) helps with the impact of local cultivation. It's an amazing place, and their chef Dan Barber not only just won the James Beard Award for Best Chef (a culinary Best Actor Oscar), but he was featured as one of
Time Magazines 100 Most Influential People. I was also able to meet/work with
Ferran Adria, who is basically considered the Worlds Best Chef from his restaurant
elBulli in Spain...it's been named "Worlds Best Restaurant" five times, and he is regarded as a genius in the culinary world. Needless to say, it was an amazing day for me, I got to see James Beard Award winners, have food cooked by the hottest chef in the world right now and just take it all in.
So yeah, even though I don't start my
new job for a week, I'm a busy, busy boy.
(Side Note: Go to the
Coldplay website and download their free live album LeftRightLeftRightLeft before time runs out. It's amazeballs.)
