you know, i had a whole idea for a post that I was going to write today, because I've had so much going on lately (Eric's Dirty Thirty Birthday, work, some travel, etc...), but I really just wanted to write on today's going's on. Obviously it's been a big day for the news, with the world losing two fantastic stars.

I won't lie, I was never a huge Farrah Fawcett fan, she was a luminary in her own way, but not during my time. I think for many people in my generation, we knew her as one of Charlie's Angels, but mainly through reruns and knowledge of her famed poster, as well as her whackadoo appearance on Letterman so many years ago. She was so famous for her hair, her body, her attitude, but in recent months it was her unyielding spirit in the face of death that really captured the nation. her strength and fight to survive with humor and bravery encouraged so many people. She will truly be missed.

So the more prominent news (although the loss of anyone is sad as it is) is that of Michael Jackson. There really is just no one that I can think of in my short 29.5 year lifetime who has made such an impression on popular culture. Yes, I love Madonna, I always have and I always will, and yes, I do love her more than MJ, but he was just on this higher plateau. He was the "King of Pop".

You know what's interesting though? Through all of his trial and tribulations (and I do mean trials!), we never took that title from him. I can't even remember the last single that he put out or the last big song of his, but he always was, and always remained the "King of Pop". It was undisputed. There was no "well, i don't know if he should have this fictional title anymore, he doesn't deserve it." His music was just timeless, his videos were legendary.

Thriller. PYT. Billie Jean. The Way You Make Me Feel. Beat It.

I was truly saddened to hear that he died. It didn't seem real. It's Michael Jackson. He will be missed.
